BNI Embarcadero Gets a Marketing Makeover

email

BNI Embarcadero (bniembarcadero.com) was a nice-looking, functional site. Until Lauren Deane of Good Looking Ideas came along. Lauren and I have worked together on several sites and it was time to revamp BNI Embarcadero doing what we do best together: combine WordPress’s power with Lauren’s design talent.

Out of the box, there are some excellent WordPress themes on the web. But just like furniture might look nice in the store, it needs to look nice in YOUR house. It needs to work for you, it needs to be thought about (the what, the how, the why) and then implemented in a manner that’s going to work for design as well as function. Lauren and Bradley worked together to find the right theme, but then Lauren also scoured iStockPhoto for just the right shots to match the tone and professionalism of the organization. I then customized the theme to work as we wanted (for example, seven home page featured items took some deep tweaking) and we were ready to roll. Well, almost.

Gil Zeimer reworked the copy for the site after we discussed the focus of the organization. We wanted to focus more on the Power Teams within the organization as well as break down the sitemap of the site so it would be based on WHO was visiting the site: current members, potential members, or potential clients. Gil’s a word smith wonder and he gave the site new life with new words. Gil and I have also worked together to revamp many websites.

Check out BNI Embarcadero and let me know what you think.
