Sorry Dai this wasnt a reply on your comment this was for the blog post it self but as a reply on you comment moving host while your using google app it no problem as your email accounts and email messages are stored at google servers. all you have to do is to set the mx records and cname if you have something like mail.yourwebsite.com on your new host thats it. may be google will ask you to verify again by uploading a a file to your root directory and that it. you have no problem

If you are moving from a host who uses cPanel to another cPanel account, please follow these instructions:

Login to your cPanel and click the “Backup” icon.
Click the “Download or Generate a Full Backup” button. This will backup all of your email accounts, files, and MySQL databases.
Leave the drop down on Home Directory and be sure to have a valid email address in the second box. Leave the remaining boxes empty.
Click the “Generate Backup” button and wait for an email confirmation to arrive.
Congratulations, you have backed up your entire site and it is now time to restore your site at your new HostGator account.

Open the email which confirms your backup. Inside it tells you the name of your backup file.
Head to hostgator.com/restore.php and submit the form. We need to know the name of your backup file, and please tell us the file is saved in your Home directory.
Wait for a reply from our administrators that the task is complete.
Once we reply, check our work by visiting your temporary URL. (Some sites will not be fully functional when using this temporary URL.) To make the site 100% functional, you must change the nameservers of your domain to the name servers HostGator provides in your welcome email.
All done! You may repeat this process for any more sites you wish to move.

Great article. I too have used several hosting providers and godaddy is the worst for site speed, which is pretty crucial! Most shared hosting is likely to suffer server overload at times. I have a VPS solution that I use for ecommerce and larger WP sites. Must try host gator….

Is there a way to keep all emails (when changing hosting from hosting provider to another) assigned with google app name servers configurations?

Since when changing the pipe mail configuration, automatically all emails are lost!

Aha, that's the big question: can you do the same thing with WOO that you can with StudioPress. Just like the architect would say, "Of course we can build it, it's just a question of resources." I think it's the same answer: use the tool that works best for you. Sure, StudioPress can build this site too,but what's the best use of a theme for a site?

never heard of canvas but looks good. could you not do the same thing w/ StudioPress?

also imho nav would serve user better up top. I think running nav’s on bottom was used alot on fixed widow flash sites.

Any one can help me.. i have domain with godaddy. i like to use google apps for my email.There is any charge for using 10 Emails same my domain name?.I got a link from google and i create ma record through this given by godaddy login details,the next day i recieve a mail from google apps to verify domain using by apps control panel.But google was not provided the user name and password for google apps.what i have to do now.please help me.

I don’t seem to be able to post comments on other wordpress blogs using my wordpress I.D. – the message I get even when logged in to wordpress, and trying to post to another wordpress blog is; “you do not own that address” ?

does this mean in order to post to another wordpress blog using my wordpress address I am required to pay wordpress?

Great article, Bradley, and the graph in particular is super useful! Kinda stunned that it’s merely the work of a plugin!

I’ll add my own host, hostmonster.com, to your mix – I’ve been using them for several years, and have had great experience; the thing that impresses me most is that one the few occassions when I’ve needed to contact support (rarely due to a problem, I typically only call w/’how-to’ questions), I always get a live person within 2-3 minutes, tops. Too, their pricing is between hostgator and bluehost, so surprisingly cheap. Domains are unlimitied, iirc, but I’m not sure of their uptime stats.

Thanks, Tim. The table plugin I'm using above is AWESOME. All CSS, no tables, powerful management from within WordPress. It's called CSS3 Web Pricing Tables Grids For WordPress. The social module on the left is called Digg Digg, also easy to trick out.
