I’ve been using Host Gator for quite some time and I have to say I’m liking it. I just set up a site on a “Business Account” there and they offered the hosting, a dedicated IP, and an SSL certificate for a good price. I also like that they have cPanel (simple backups rule) that everyone knows. I’ll try to post more here about my experience with HostGator, but it’s been good to me so far.

I also like that they have a phone number, local people who answer the phone and know what they’re talking about.

What’s your experience with HostGator?

Update: Maximum file upload size. When you upload a file (JPG, PDF, etc.) in WordPress, depending on your host, it will show the maximum megabyte size limit (usually 2 MB or maybe 4 MB). With HostGator, it’s 64 MB. Of course, you can change settings in your php.ini or wp-config.php or .htaccess files, but you need FTP access and know how to edit those files.

Update: Speed. I’ve noticed a significant speed improvements with the sites I’m hosting with HostGator. Especially with WordPress hosting, the speed difference is quite remarkable. Will I be moving some of my sites to HostGator from my other hosting companies? Yes.
