Spam Assassin is a server-based spam-filtering program. Basically, it moves anything that it regards as spam to a folder called Spam. In order to check that folder, you need to set up another email account to check that folder. That email account is your user name followed by /spam.

I need to turn on Spam Assassin before this works.

How to set up your email account (in your email program, e.g. Outlook) to get the email designated as spam (so you can check if any non-spam slipped in there).

This is a general how to, it will be slightly different in your email program.

1.) In your email program, add an exact replica of your main email account, [email protected]

2.) The only difference is in the login/user name. Add /spam to the end of it, e.g. [email protected]/spam.

3.) Set up a folder in your email program called Spam. If your email program has rules, create a rule so that “All mail to the [email protected]/spam account will be moved to the e.g. Spam folder.” Now your regular/good email should go to your Inbox and your Spam should go to this new Spam folder.
