Purchased a WOO Themes plugin, extension, or theme? WOO Themes Helper … is helpful.

Living in the WordPress (or any software environment: iOS, Windows, Mac etc.) you’d like things to happen behind the scenes or at least with just a simple click of a button. For example, the latest iOS (the operating system for iPhones and other iDevices) will automatically upgrade your apps to their latest versions.

[box type=”note”]If you’re thinking, “Well, duh, I already can update all of my plugins with one click. What gives?” Aha, but those are (usually) free. These are premium/paid. [/box]

As a user, it might not seem like a such a big deal: head back to the original developer’s site, download the latest version of a plugin, upload it over your existing version … wait a sec, that is a big deal. What a pain. But for most of the premium plugins out there, this is how it works. WOO is just showing that it’s leading the pack in making your WordPress management just that much easier.

[box type=”alert”]If you have a developer license over at WOO, this doesn’t work yet, but there are plans for 2014. [/box]

From the developer’s perspective, this is also handy to help prevent unwanted file sharing with folks who haven’t paid for the license. Companies are learning (duh!) that legitimate revenue streams from legitimate products help with maintenance, support, and guess what, major improvements to their work. This helps make all of that possible and keeps the companies afloat and, frankly, validated for their work. I think it’s a move in the right direction.
