NCBPMA February Program
Tuesday, February 21st, 12:30-2:30pm
Macarthur Park Restaurant, San Francisco

(Original event listing here.)

Online promotion may be the most effective way to get the biggest bang out of a marketing buck both during a book’s launch window and forever after. What may be less clear is how to do it.

Emarketing guru Kevin Smokler, editor of “Bookmark Now: Writing in Unreaderly Times,” Anhoni Patel, Managing Editor of SF Station, and Web designer Bradley Charbanneau are going to tell you how to make the most of a book’s online marketing potential while minimizing costs. By the end of the panel, you will have a way of using the Web to maximize the sales of your books and authors. Handouts will add to the panel’s lasting value. Literary agent and San Francisco Writers Conference cofounder Michael Larsen will moderate the panel.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, February 21st, 12:30 to 2:30pm at MacArthur Park Restaurant in downtown San Francisco. Lunch will be served promptly at 12:40pm.

Lunch choices:
1. Cobb Salad with Smoked Chicken & Bacon, Hard Boiled Egg, Maytag Blue Cheese, Fresh Tomato & Avocado; Tarragon Dijon Vinaigrette
2. Spinach and artichoke stuffed ravioli in a garlic cream sauce (vegetarian)
3. Angel Hair Pasta with Gulf Shrimp, Fresh Tomatoes, Basil, Garlic, and extra virgin olive oil
Meals include Apple Pie a la mode (granny smith apples on a flaky crust served with vanilla ice cream) and coffee, tea, ice-tea, and/or lemonade.

MORE ABOUT OUR GUESTS

KEVIN SMOKLER (www.kevinsmokler.com) is the editor of “Bookmark Now: Writing in Unreaderly Times” (Basic Books, 2005). His writing has appeared in “The San Francisco Chronicle,” “The Believer” and on NPR. He’s acted as a career coach for writers from each of the major publishing houses and is the founder of the Virtual Book Tour. He lives in San Francisco.

BRADLEY CHARBONNEAU got started creating websites for writers when he asked a writer in his writers’ group, “How can I learn more about you and your book?” The other writer replied, “Go to the bookstore and look at the back page of my book.” That writer needed help. Bradley had just created a website for the promotion of his own writing and he knew he could help others the same way. His “websites for writers” business was born. Since then (2003), he’s helped dozens and dozens of writers get online. Not just websites, but online email marketing campaigns, newsletters (complete with sign-up forms), blogs, Podcasts, email, search engine optimization, and many other tips and tricks that help to promote writers and their work. Bradley has also worked for the past several years for a naming and branding company as an account manager and creative source. In the past he’s worked in marketing departments as well as on the technical side of things for large corporations in the US and Europe. www.likoma.com
