Pages are for more static, less time-related content such as the about page or contact page.
When to use a page and when to use a category? Depends on what you're showing and how you want to show it.
Instead of building some HTML landing page, just use a regular page and hide some unwanted elements.
Multiple sliders on your site with different images on different pages? No problem.
It's important for users new to WordPress to have a good understanding of what pages and posts are and when to use them.
Whaddyaknow, there's a plugin called "List Pages Shortcode." Who knew? Obviously not me. Works like a charm.
Rather than try to cut and paste content from one page to another, I'm using the Genesis Featured Widget to just pull parts of a page into a widgetized area.
Pages, posts, and categories—these are the basic building blocks of your blog. Once you understand them, everything else pretty much falls into place.
