Irving Consulting had a nice-looking site, but they couldn’t easily update the content. We switched it over to WordPress so that Gil Zeimer (San Francisco copywriter extraordinaire) could get in there and add to the copy. Lauren Deane (Good Looking Ideas) helped choose the theme, the look and feel, and we were off to the races. Or actually, to the starting blocks. Their old hosting company wasn’t very fast, so we switched them over to fast WordPress hosting at HostGator and then they were around the first bend in a flash.

I love switching sites from static HTML code to WordPress because it makes life easier for everyone involved. Here’s a note from Andy McClure to Dave Irvine (the owner of Irvine Consulting), talking about something as simple as adding content to a sidebar.

Dave, I’m in heaven.  I was able to easily add the Field Services Tech page to the site as well as update the sidebar to direct people to it.  Grabbed a clip art piece on “Your Career” and voila, we’ve got a quick home page call to action.

Normally that process would have required some sort of HTML editor (e.g. Dreamweaver), the FTP login and password, maybe even a testing site to make sure it was all going to work, and a few more back and forth emails to test and check and double check. But now it was a WordPress login, a bit of code into a sidebar and voila.
